The Griswold Inn is located near the foot of Main Street
in Essex Village on the Connecticut River.
Agenda for the Annual Meeting/Reunion
- 10:00 am: Registration
- 10:30 am - 12:30 pm: Meeting / Program
- 12:30 pm: Lunch
- 2 - 4 pm: Speakers:
- 1) Jim Streeter will speak about the “Avery Chapel” and the “Avery Memorial Arch.”
- 2) Vincent Pitts will speak about “The Averys and the Abolitionist Movement.”
CHILDREN’S MENU

- Pasta with Butter
- Fish & Chips
- Chicken Fingers
- Broiled Hamburger or Cheeseburger
- Grilled Cheese Sandwich
ADULT BUFFET MENU
- House salad of gathered greens with their famous garlic-marsala dressing
- Warm dinner rolls & butter
- Red skin potato salad
- Sautéed chicken breast with sweet and sour bell pepper relish
- Beef stroganoff with fresh herbs and steamed long grain rice
- Glazed baby carrots
- Assorted cakes and pies
- Freshly brewed coffee or tea
Directions to The Griswold Inn
- Traveling Interstate 95 North: take Exit 65. At end of exit ramp take left (Rte. 153). Travel approximately 7 miles. You will eventually come to a light at a 4-way intersection. Go straight for ½ mile until you reach a stop sign. See below "From stop sign."
- Traveling Interstate 95 South: take Exit 69 (Rte. 9). Travel on Rte. 9 to Exit 3. At end of exit ramp take left - you will reach a light at a 4-way intersection. Take right and go straight for ½ mile until you reach a stop sign. See below "From stop sign."
- Traveling Interstate 91 South: Take Exit 22S, a left-hand exit, (Route 9), Take Exit 3. Take left, travel under overpass to light at 4-way intersection. Take left and proceed ½ mile to stop sign. See below "From stop sign."
- From stop sign: Directly across you will notice a sign with an arrow pointing in the direction of "Essex and Historic Waterfront." Take this "middle road" to the bottom of the hill. Bear right at the rotary and onto Main Street. The inn is ¼ mile on your right.
- Parking is available on the street and behind Griswold Corners and Griswold Square directly across from the inn. To access either of these lots, take a left onto Ferry Street across from the inn. By taking a left or a right, you will land in our parking areas!

At 10 am, there will be a church service at the Groton Congregational Church, 162 Monument St, Groton, CT (where the Avery window is located). The Church welcomes all members of the Avery Memorial Association.
