THE AVERY MEMORIAL ASSOCIATION'S

ANNUAL REUNION/MEETING

JULY 21, 2001

On July 21, 2001, the Avery Memorial Association held its annual reunion meeting at the First Congregational Church of Groton.

People of all ages attended, including Kathy Johnson's daughter Rebecca!

Stephanie (the Avery Family Historian) and Joe Lantiere of Oakville, CT displayed many old pictures of Averys, the 1809 Rufus Avery Bible and several artifacts. They also displayed their newly published book "The Avery Memorial Association: 100 Years of History in Newspaper Clippings."

The meeting began with a welcome by President Peter Schellens.

A report by Secretary Betty Brustolon followed, as did reports from Vice President Kathy Johnson (pictured immediately below) and Association Historian Stephanie Lantiere.

Kathy Johnson showed the Past President's Plaque (above) to the audience (below). The plaque will be displayed at the Ebenezer Avery House.The plaque has an up-to-date list of all the past presidents of the Avery Memorial Association.

After the meeting a buffet lunch was served.

After the lunch, a special lecture was given by Marie Peligrano about The Avery Window, a special stained glass window installed in 1902 in memory of James Avery.
